There are many myths and assumptions surrounding the requirements of the Data Protection Act. This course will look at what are the actual requirements of the Act and others so that CCTV images can be used effectively. The main areas covered by the course are:-

  • What is the legislation?
  •  Fair processing and the notices required
  • Use and purpose of CCTV
  •  Access to images by 3rd parties e.g. Police and solicitors
  • What images are personal data and what are not.
  • Security, quality and retention of both analogue and digital images
  •  Covert monitoring - requirements of R.I.P.A.
  •  Dealing with requests from the public for images under DPA and FOIA
